Introduction:

Water-soluble eosin Y is a chemically synthesized acidic dye that dissociates into negatively charged anions in water and combines with positively charged cations of the amino groups of proteins to stain the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm, red blood cells, muscles, connective tissue, eosinophilic granules, etc. are stained in varying degrees of red or pink, forming a sharp contrast with the blue cell nucleus.

Uses:

1. Used as biological stain. Also used as adsorption indicator, used for precipitation titration determination of Br-, I-, SCN-, MoO, Ag+, etc. Used as colorimetric agent, used for fluorescence spectrophotometry determination of Ag+, Pb2+, Mn2+, Zn2+, etc.
2. Biological stain, for staining of peptides and proteins, protoplasm, alkaline phosphatase, etc.; photometric determination of silver (sub-microgram amount); Wright stain component, used for identification of blood cells; adsorption indicator, titration of bromine, iodine, fluorine and other ions
