Introduction:

4-Hydroxyethylpiperazineethanesulfonic acid (HEPES) is an important hydrogen ion buffer, which has good buffering capacity in the pH range of 6.8 to 8.2 and can control a constant pH for a long time. The concentration used is 10 to 50 mmol/L. Generally, 20 mmol/L 4-Hydroxyethylpiperazineethanesulfonic acid in the culture medium can have good buffering capacity and has no toxic effect on cells.

Uses:

HEPES (4-hydroxyethylpiperazineethanesulfonic acid) is a non-ionic amphoteric buffer with high polarity. It is inert to a variety of chemical reagents and enzymes, does not participate in or interfere with biochemical reactions, and has no inhibitory effect on enzyme chemical reactions. Therefore, it can be used specifically for the study of organelles and highly volatile, pH-sensitive proteins and enzymes.
