Sorbitan Monooleate is a yellow, oily liquid, a nonionic surfactant with an HLB value of 4.3. It is dispersible in warm water and ethanol, and readily soluble in organic solvents such as propylene glycol, liquid paraffin, methanol, and ethyl acetate. It is a typical water-in-oil emulsifier.
It exhibits excellent emulsifying, dispersing, and stabilizing properties, and is widely used in the pharmaceutical field. It can be used as a solubilizer and emulsifier for injections and oral liquids, as well as a capsule dispersant, ointment emulsion base, and suppository base. It can also be used as a food industry emulsifier, possessing good compatibility, chemical stability, and resistance to acids, alkalis, and hard water. It is often used in combination with Tween surfactants and is widely applied in medicines, food, daily chemicals, and industrial emulsification.
