The Ship-to-Shore (STS) container crane (commonly referred to as the quayside crane) is a specialized piece of lifting equipment used at container terminals for loading and unloading container vessels. Its function is to directly transfer containers from the ship to the dock or to container trucks, or from the dock or container trucks onto the ship.The design, manufacturing, and inspection comply with international standards such as FEM, DIN, IEC, AWS, GB, etc. The STS container crane mainly consists of an electrical control system, a metal structure, four major mechanisms (hoisting mechanism, trolley traveling mechanism, boom luffing mechanism, and gantry traveling mechanism), a trolley assembly, a tilting and spreader landing protection device, and auxiliary devices. All mechanisms adopt fully digital AC variable frequency drive and PLC-controlled speed regulation technologies, offering flexible control and high precision. The crane is also equipped with various specifications of single-box and twin-box container spreaders, with an optional electronic anti-sway function.
