Common Applications
Because drop cables bridge the gap between outdoor distribution lines and indoor user terminals, their deployment must accommodate various environments:
  • Aerial Deployment: Self-supporting "figure-8" drop cables are strung on utility poles to connect overhead lines directly to the side of a building
  • Duct/Conduit Installation: Cables are pulled through underground or in-wall conduits to protect them from environmental damage.
  • Direct Burial: Specialized toneable drop cables are laid directly into trenches below the frost line to prevent shifting soil from damaging the line.
  • Indoor Wiring: Once inside the premises, smaller, flexible drop cables are routed to desktop Optical Network Terminals (ONT) or wall sockets
