Description

Product Description

Wear-resistant ceramic-lined elbows are designed for high-wear bends in coal powder and other abrasive pneumatic conveying systems.

When coal powder changes direction at an elbow, high-speed particles tend to impact the outer arc repeatedly. This concentrated erosion often makes elbows wear faster than straight pipe sections.

The ceramic-lined elbow combines a steel pipe body with a wear-resistant alumina ceramic lining. The steel shell provides structural strength, while the ceramic lining protects the material-contact surface against continuous abrasion.

Elbow angle, bending radius, pipe diameter, ceramic thickness, and connection type can be customized according to the approved drawing and actual operating conditions.

Product Structure

A typical ceramic-lined elbow consists of:

  • Steel outer pipe
  • Bonding or fixing layer
  • 95% alumina ceramic wear lining

Different ceramic fixing methods can be selected based on temperature, material velocity, impact level, and installation requirements.

For coal powder conveying, particular attention should be paid to the outer arc of the elbow, where wear is usually more concentrated.

Wear Protection at Pipe Elbows

Elbows are often one of the critical wear points in pneumatic coal powder conveying systems.

Unlike straight pipe sections, an elbow forces the material flow to change direction. Particle impact and turbulence can therefore become concentrated on a relatively small area of the lining.

For this reason, ceramic thickness should not be selected only according to pipe diameter. Conveying velocity, particle size, operating temperature, pressure, and expected wear position should also be considered.

For particularly severe wear areas, the ceramic layout or lining thickness can be adjusted according to the operating conditions and approved drawing.

Applications

Wear-resistant ceramic lined elbows are widely used in coal conveying, pulverized coal handling, and ash conveying systems in thermal power plants.

Typical installation positions include:

  • Coal mill outlet pipelines
  • Pulverized coal pipelines
  • Primary air conveying lines
  • Powder separator pipelines
  • Dust collection pipelines
  • Ash conveying pipelines
  • Slag discharge pipelines

They can also be used for abrasive powder conveying in cement plants, steel mills, mining and mineral processing industries.

Product Features

Wear-resistant ceramic lining
The high-hardness alumina ceramic protects the elbow against continuous abrasion from coal powder and other abrasive particles.

Protection for concentrated wear areas
The lining design can be adjusted according to the expected high-wear position, particularly around the outer arc of the elbow.

Customized geometry
Pipe diameter, elbow angle, radius, ceramic thickness, and connection type can be manufactured according to drawings.

Smooth material-contact surface
The ceramic lining provides a smooth internal surface suitable for pneumatic powder conveying.

Steel and ceramic composite structure
The steel shell provides mechanical strength while the ceramic lining provides wear protection.

Product Packaging

Packaging is selected according to the elbow size, weight, and transportation requirements.

Ceramic-lined elbows are normally packed in wooden cases or fixed on suitable supports. Protective materials are used around contact and connection areas to reduce the risk of collision and ceramic damage during transportation.

FAQ

Q1: Why do coal powder conveying elbows wear faster than straight pipes?
A1: At an elbow, particles change direction and repeatedly impact the bend surface. Wear is therefore often concentrated around the outer arc.

Q2: What ceramic material is normally used?
A2: 95% alumina ceramic is commonly used for abrasive powder conveying applications.

Q3: Can the elbow size and radius be customized?
A3: Yes. Pipe diameter, elbow angle, bending radius, steel thickness, ceramic thickness, and connection type can be manufactured according to drawings.

Q4: Can the ceramic lining be reinforced at high-wear areas?
A4: Yes. Ceramic layout and thickness can be adjusted according to the expected wear position and working conditions.

Q5: What information is required for quotation?
A5: A drawing is preferred. Please also provide the conveyed material, particle size, operating temperature, pressure, and conveying conditions.
