The working principle of a screw conveyor is primarily based on the mechanical thrust generated by the rotating spiral blades. As the drive unit rotates the central shaft, the helical flights exert a continuous pushing force on the bulk material.
Due to the gravity of the material itself and the frictional resistance between the material and the trough wall, the material is prevented from rotating synchronously with the screw blades. Instead, it moves linearly along the bottom of the conveyor casing,similar to a nut moving along a rotating bolt. This process ensures a smooth, steady, and enclosed displacement of materials from the inlet to the discharge port, effectively handling horizontal, inclined, or vertical transportation needs.
