Installation Guide: Car Air Conditioning Compressor
1. Safety Preparation and Oil Adjustment
- Disconnect the battery and wear safety gear (gloves and goggles)
- Adjust compressor oil levels: Drain residual oil from the old compressor and calculate required oil using the formula: New compressor oil capacity - Residual oil from old compressor = Oil to be drained from new unit
- Use ND-OIL8 or equivalent compressor oil to lubricate O-rings and fittings
2. Removing the Old Compressor
- Release the serpentine belt by loosening the tensioner pulley
- Disconnect electrical connectors and refrigerant lines (suction/discharge ports)
- Remove mounting bolts (note torque specifications for reinstallation) and detach the old compressor
3. Installing the New Compressor Assembly
- Mount the new compressor using E8 spline sockets and tighten bolts to 9.8 N*m initially
- Secure the assembly with additional bolts/nuts, ensuring final torque of 25 N*m as per manufacturer's diagram
- Reconnect electrical terminals and ensure proper alignment with engine bracket
4. Connecting Hoses and Belts
- Remove PVC insulation tape from hoses and apply compressor oil to O-rings before installation
- Attach discharge and suction hoses with new O-rings, tightening fittings to 9.8 N*m
- Reinstall the multi-ribbed belt and adjust tension for smooth operation
5. Evacuation and Refrigerant Charging
- Use a vacuum pump to evacuate the system for 30-60 minutes to remove moisture and air
- Charge refrigerant (e.g., R134a) according to vehicle's specified capacity, measured with precision scale
6. Final Checks and Testing
- Start the engine and run the AC at maximum cooling to verify clutch engagement and cold airflow
- Inspect for leaks using a UV dye kit or electronic detector
- Reinstall protective covers (air deflectors and underbody panels) and confirm no abnormal noises
