Our stainless steel C channel (strut channel) is roll formed from 304 or 316 stainless strip and supplied in 41x41mm, 41x21mm and 41x61mm profiles with plain or slotted back. 304 grade covers general indoor and outdoor supporting systems, while 316 grade with 2-3% molybdenum is specified for coastal, marine and chemical environments where chloride attack is constant. Standard stock lengths are 1m to 6m, and any cut length, hole pattern or pre-assembled bracket set can be produced against your drawing.
Stainless steel forms a self-renewing chromium oxide passive film on the surface. Once scratched or cut, the film re-forms in air instead of rusting through like galvanized or painted carbon steel, so the channel keeps its load path and appearance after years of rain, humidity or washdown.
We supply both grades and will advise which one your project really needs, avoiding the cost of over-specifying 316 or the risk of under-specifying 304 near the sea.
| Item | 304 Stainless | 316 / 316L Stainless |
|---|---|---|
| Chemical composition | 18% Cr, 8% Ni | 16-18% Cr, 10-14% Ni, 2-3% Mo |
| Salt spray resistance | Around 500-1000 hours | Above 1000-2000 hours |
| Best environment | Indoor, urban outdoor, food and clean rooms | Coastal, marine, chemical plant, tunnel, desalination |
| Working temperature | -196 C to 800 C | -196 C to 800 C |
Roll formed C profile with a folded inward lip keeps the section stiff in bending and torsion. Stainless 304 has a yield strength around 205 MPa and reaches roughly 520 MPa after cold forming, so a 2.0mm stainless channel replaces a thicker carbon steel channel in most support frames.
No re-galvanizing, no repainting, no rust bleeding onto facades or stored goods. In food, pharmaceutical and clean room projects the channel can be washed down with normal detergents without losing its finish.
Mixed profiles and mixed lengths can be bundled in the same shipment, so a project can order 41x41 slotted for pipe racks and 41x21 plain for cable trays without opening two orders.
Stainless scrap keeps high residual value, which matters for projects with green building or LEED documentation requirements.

Q: Can I mix 304 and 316 in one order?
A: Yes. Both grades use the same tooling, so mixed grade bundles are possible. We will mark each bundle clearly.
Q: Can you cut to my exact length?
A: Yes, cut lengths from 200 mm upward, with burr removed. Please allow +/- 2 mm on cut length.
Q: Can you punch holes to match my bracket spacing?
A: Yes. Send the hole diameter, slot size, pitch and edge distance, and we will build the punching die for your run.
Q: Do you supply samples?
A: Short cut samples of stock profiles can be sent for inspection; freight is at buyer cost and refundable on the first bulk order.
Tell us the grade (304 or 316), profile, wall thickness, length, hole pattern and total weight. We will reply with a firm price, packing plan and delivery schedule within one working day.
