The PIE Gauge Magnetic Pie Indicator Set is a precision instrument designed for Magnetic Particle Testing (NDT). It provides a reliable and visual method for verifying magnetic field strength and direction on the surface of ferromagnetic workpieces. The set includes three standard indicator types — 1#, 2#, and 3# — each suited to different inspection requirements.

All indicators are used with the continuous method for magnetic inspection. When magnetic suspension is sprayed onto the workpiece, the magnetic image is clearly displayed for accurate evaluation.

Indicator Types & Specifications
1# Indicator — Eight Triangular Pieces (Single-Sided Brass)

The 1# indicator is a combination of eight triangular pieces. One side features a brass surface, while the other side features eight line surfaces.

  • Hold the handle during use and keep the brass side facing upward.
  • Keep the eight-line surface facing downward and close to the workpiece surface.
  • Apply the continuous method for magnetic inspection.
  • Spray magnetic suspension to clearly display the magnetic image.

2# Indicator — Eight Triangular Pieces (Double-Sided Brass)

The 2# indicator is a combination of eight triangular pieces, with both sides featuring a brass surface.

  • Hold the handle during use and keep either brass surface facing upward.
  • Close the indicator to the workpiece surface.
  • Apply the continuous method for magnetic inspection.
  • Spray magnetic suspension to clearly display the magnetic image.

3# Indicator — Four Triangular Pieces (Brass & Wire Surface with Round Dots)

The 3# indicator is a combination of four triangular pieces. One side features a brass surface, while the other side features four wire surfaces and two round dots.

  • Hold the handle during use and keep either brass surface facing upward.
  • Close the indicator to the workpiece surface.
  • Apply the continuous method for magnetic inspection.
  • Spray magnetic suspension to clearly display the magnetic image.
  • Verify whether the flaw detection equipment, comprehensive performance, and operation method of the magnetic suspension are appropriate.
  • Adjust the distance between the cover and soft iron to find certain magnetic field values, then observe the limit value of near-surface defect buried depth capability.
