What is EPP on ATM?
These are used in automated teller machines to ensure that the unencrypted PIN is not stored or transmitted anywhere in the rest of the system and thus cannot be revealed accidentally or through manipulations of the system. An ATM Encrypting PIN Pad (EPP) with German markings.
What are the specific roles of BSC in the data transmission of ATM machine keyboards?
During the data transmission process of ATM machine keyboards, the synchronous characters of BSC (assuming it is applied in this context) play a crucial role. For example, at the beginning of the data transmission, the sending end (the keyboard) will send synchronous characters, such as SYN (Synchronous Idle). The receiving end (the processing module of the ATM machine) adjusts its own clock by recognizing these synchronous characters to ensure synchronization with the sending end.
This is just like when two people are about to start a conversation, they need to first calibrate their rhythms through a specific signal (the synchronous characters) to ensure the accurate reception of the subsequent data (analogous to the content of speech in the conversation). When the keyboard has no data transmission for a long time, it will also send synchronous characters intermittently to maintain this synchronous state and prevent the receiving end from losing synchronization due to long waiting.
