Manganese Silicon Smelting Furnace
Equipment & Parameter Introduction
Manganese Silicon Smelting Furnace (also called MnSi Submerged Arc Furnace) is a high-power industrial electric furnace specially used for continuous smelting of manganese ore, silica, coke and other raw materials to produce manganese silicon alloy (MnSi).
1. Equipment Structure & Composition
(1) Furnace Body
- Cylindrical steel shell with water cooling
- High-performance refractory lining (magnesia-carbon bricks, carbon ramming mass)
- Sealed or semi-sealed furnace cover for flue gas collection
- Tapping spout for alloy and slag discharge
(2) Electrode System
- Three-phase self-baking Soderberg electrodes or graphite electrodes
- Electrode diameter: φ600–1200 mm
- Hydraulic lifting and pressure-sintering device
- Water-cooled electrode clamps and contact shoes
(3) Power Supply System
- Special furnace transformer with on-load voltage regulation
- Capacity range: 6300–33000 kVA
- Low-impedance short-network structure
- Reactive power compensation device
(4) Feeding & Batching System
- Automatic batching machine (manganese ore, quartzite, coke, flux)
- Multi-point annular feeding device for uniform distribution
- Belt conveyor and weighing system
(5) Flue Gas & Environmental Protection
- High-temperature flue gas dust removal (bag filter / electrostatic precipitator)
- Waste heat recovery system
- Closed dust collection and conveying

Main components:
- Mn: 60–68%
- Si: 14–18%
- C: ≤1.8%
- P, S: low impurity content
Used mainly for deoxidation and alloying in steelmaking, and casting industry.
