PP Strapping Band Extrusion Line – Precise Tension
Precision Tension Control System
Tension control is a critical factor affecting thickness uniformity and final winding quality in PP strapping production. This production line features a multi-stage haul-off system consisting of a low-speed three-roller haul-off unit (0-40 m/min, 5.5KW) and a high-speed five-roller haul-off unit (0-250 m/min, 15KW). The low-speed unit stabilizes the nascent tape after extrusion, while the high-speed units provide precise tension adjustment after stretching and setting. Multi-stage haul-off combined with closed-loop speed control (accuracy ±1 m/min) ensures constant, fluctuation-free tension across all sections. Rollers are chrome-plated and polished with HRC58-60 hardness, wear-resistant and non-damaging to the tape.

Technical Questions & Answers
Why is a multi-stage haul-off system needed?
The low-speed unit stabilizes the nascent tape after extrusion and before stretching, preventing accidental deformation. The high-speed units transport the stretched and set finished tape. Stage-specific control optimizes tension matching at each section.
How is speed synchronization ensured among multiple haul-off units?
The entire line uses PLC closed-loop coordinated control. The operator sets the main line speed on the touch screen, and the system automatically calculates the speed ratios for each haul-off unit, precisely executed via inverters. Individual units can be fine-tuned independently.
What are the effects of tension fluctuation?
Tension fluctuation causes uneven thickness, uneven stretching, and ultimately affects strapping strength and roll shape quality. In severe cases, it may cause breakage or inconsistent winding tightness.
