Finish Type Description Key Characteristic
Bright Annealed (BA) Mirror-like, highly reflective surface produced by heat treatment in a reducing atmosphere. Oxide-free. Highest corrosion resistance due to an intact, chromium-rich passive layer. No pickling required.
Pickled (AP) Chemically cleaned to remove oxides; matte, dull grey finish. Cost-effective, but rougher. Requires passivation post-pickling.
Mechanically Polished (MP) Ground and polished post-annealing to achieve a specific shine. Brighter than AP, but removes the as-annealed pristine surface layer.
