Copper C12200 Extruded Finned Tubes For HVAC And Refrigeration Heat Exchangers

Row of Copper C12200 Extruded Finned Tubes are core assembly components of air-cooled heat exchangers. Taking seamless UNS C12200 phosphorus deoxidized copper as base tube, the external fins are integrally extruded onto the tube surface.

Thanks to the excellent ductility and low oxygen property of C12200 copper, tight bonding between base tube and fins is achieved without clearance, greatly cutting contact thermal resistance. This tube row assembly delivers stable heat transfer performance and reliable brazing characteristics, widely configured in condensers and evaporators for commercial refrigeration units, air conditioning systems and heat pump equipment.

UNS C12200 phosphorus-deoxidized copper is the preferred base material for extruded fin tubes in HVAC and refrigeration heat exchangers. Compared to other copper grades such as C11000, it offers unique advantages suited to heat exchanger operating conditions:

1.Controlled low oxygen content helps avoid hydrogen embrittlement during high-temperature brazing. During assembly and welding of fin-tube heat exchangers, stable weld formation reduces the risk of hidden leaks in closed refrigerant circulation systems, making it ideal for air-cooled condensers and evaporators operating under medium pressure over extended periods.

2.Balanced thermal conductivity and workability. While maintaining excellent heat transfer performance, the tube exhibits consistent ductility, enabling reliable expansion, bending, and compound extrusion forming. During external fin extrusion, the base tube resists microcrack formation, ensuring tight bonding between the base tube and fins and minimizing contact thermal resistance.

3.Compatible with mainstream new refrigerants including R32, R410A, R134a, and R454C. The material does not generate corrosive byproducts when in contact with refrigerants or compatible lubricating oils, reducing internal oxidation of the tube walls and extending the overall service life of the heat exchanger.

4.Uniform internal grain structure ensures stable pressure resistance. Mass-produced C12200 seamless tubes have minimal inclusions and internal defects, effectively resisting alternating pressure loads caused by temperature fluctuations during unit start-up and shutdown, thereby lowering the probability of tube rupture.

5.Moderate surface oxidation characteristics. The naturally formed oxide layer on the tube surface avoids excessive passivation, ensuring strong adhesion between the extruded fins and base tube, while simplifying pre-treatment processes prior to batch welding at manufacturing facilities.

*Engineering selection note: C12200 is not suitable for long-term immersion in highly acidic or high-salinity water environments.
