About 310H Stainless Steel
General Properties
Alloy 310H (UNS S31009) features a controlled carbon content optimized for high-temperature applications. This steel offers excellent oxidation resistance up to 1040°C (1904°F) in intermittent service and 1150°C (2102°F) in continuous service. It performs well in environments with sulfur dioxide gas at high temperatures, though continuous use in the 425-860°C (797-1580°F) range is not recommended due to carbide precipitation.
Applications
Grade 310H stainless steel is primarily used in the heat treatment and chemical process industries for components including:
  • Fans and burners
  • Trays and baskets
  • Rollers and conveyor belts
  • Oven and retort linings
  • Tube hangers and refractory supports
  • Containers for hot concentrated acids, ammonia, and sulfur dioxide
  • Food processing equipment for hot acetic and citric acids
