Product Overview
Alloy 254 SMO is a premium super austenitic stainless steel with low carbon content, alloyed with molybdenum and nitrogen. It demonstrates outstanding resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, stress cracking, and corrosion fatigue. With strength nearly twice that of 300 series stainless steel, it offers high ductility and impact strength while maintaining exceptional corrosion resistance in high chloride environments.
Key Features
- Excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion
- Very low carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation risk
- Superior strength compared to standard austenitic grades
- High ductility and impact strength
- Outstanding performance in chloride-containing environments
- Cost-effective alternative to high nickel and titanium alloys
Applications
- Petroleum production equipment
- Saltwater handling systems
- Food and chemical processing equipment
- Pulp mill bleach systems
- Flue gas desulphurization scrubbers
- Tall oil distillation columns
- Offshore oil & gas production equipment
- Desalination equipment
