Alloy 321 (UNS S32100) is a titanium-stabilized stainless steel plate offering excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion following exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range from 800 to 1500°F (427 to 816°C).
This alloy provides superior high-temperature service capabilities with enhanced creep and stress rupture properties compared to Alloy 304 and 304L. Alloy 321 maintains excellent mechanical properties and low-temperature toughness while resisting oxidation up to 1500°F (816°C).
Alloy 321H (UNS S32109) features higher carbon content (0.04-0.10) for improved creep resistance and elevated temperature strength above 1000°F (537°C). The alloy cannot be hardened by heat treatment but responds well to cold working and standard fabrication processes.
