316Ti stainless steel is a variant of the 316 series austenitic stainless steel. This steel contains a small amount of titanium, making it more resistant to corrosion and high temperatures than similar steels. The "Ti" in 316Ti stands for titanium, which combines with carbon to form titanium carbide, helping stabilize the material from sensitization.
Sensitization refers to the process by which chromium-rich grains are depleted from the microstructure of a metal at high temperatures, leaving it vulnerable to corrosion. 316Ti offers excellent mechanical properties including strength and ductility, along with good weldability and formability into various shapes.
Compared to other grades such as 304 or 321 alloys, this grade is non-magnetic and provides excellent resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Its outstanding properties—including durability, heat resistance, mechanical strength, and excellent corrosion resistance—make it ideal for applications requiring reliability under extreme environmental conditions.
