ASTM A240 316L Stainless Steel Coil - Bright Annealed BA Finish
Our Grade 316L stainless steel coil features molybdenum alloying for dramatically improved corrosion resistance, particularly against chlorides and industrial solvents. The bright annealed (BA) finish delivers a mirror-like reflective surface achieved through controlled atmosphere annealing, eliminating the need for post-process polishing.
Key Features
- Molybdenum Enhanced: 2-3% molybdenum content provides superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in chloride environments
- Bright Annealed Finish: Highly reflective mirror-like surface produced in a controlled atmosphere furnace, ideal for aesthetic applications
- Low Carbon Variant: 316L's reduced carbon content prevents carbide precipitation during welding, maintaining corrosion resistance in as-welded condition
- Marine Grade Performance: Excellent resistance to seawater and marine atmospheres
- Chemical Compatibility: Superior resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and many organic chemicals
- Excellent Weldability: No post-weld annealing required for most applications
Typical Applications
- Marine hardware and boat fittings
- Chemical processing equipment
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing vessels
- Coastal architectural cladding
- Food and beverage processing in saline environments
- Medical device and implant components
Quality Assurance
Each coil is tested per ASTM A240 standards including chemical composition analysis, tensile testing, hardness measurement, and pitting resistance evaluation. Full 3.1 Material Certification to EN 10204 provided with traceability to mill heat numbers.
