Donar Dual-Energy X-Ray Sorter

The Donar Dual-Energy X-Ray Sorter utilizes dual-energy X-ray transmission technology (DE-XRT), which leverages the differences in absorption and penetration of low- and high-energy X-rays between light metals and heavy metals. It accurately detects and removes heavy metal contaminants from scrap, enabling efficient purification and recovery of aluminum scrap.

It Adopts Dual-energy X-ray Transmission Technology (de-xrt). Based On The Differences In Absorption And Penetration Of Dual-energy X-rays Between Light Metals And Heavy Metals



The equipment is based on the principle of dual-energy X-ray transmission imaging. By measuring the absorption and penetration characteristics of different materials under dual-energy X-rays, it achieves precise separation of aluminum from heavy metal impurities in mixed non-ferrous metal scrap. The system is equipped with two sets of X-ray sources:

  • Low-energy X-rays: 20–50 keV

  • High-energy X-rays: 80–150 keV

The Dual Energy Ratio (DER) characteristics for different materials are as follows:

  • Aluminum: Moderate absorption of low-energy X-rays (medium penetration) and low absorption of high-energy X-rays (high penetration). DER range: 1.5–2.5.

  • Heavy metals (e.g., copper, zinc, stainless steel): Very high absorption of low-energy X-rays (low penetration) and moderate absorption of high-energy X-rays (medium penetration). DER > 2.5.

Thanks to the significant difference in DER, the Donar Dual-Energy X-Ray Sorter can accurately distinguish aluminum from heavy metal contaminants in mixed non-ferrous metal scrap.
