Bleach Production Safety On-site Hypo Generation Plant with Brine Treatment
Brief Introduction:
1. Klorigen systems eliminate transportation and storage of pressurized chlorine gas
2. Klorigen systems produce elemental chlorine gas, on-demand as it is required by the plant – chlorine is consumed as it is produced, eliminating storage
3. Process operates under negative pressure (vacuum), eliminating the possibility of a toxic gas release
4. System contains approximately 1-2 pounds of chlorine gas at any time per 2,500 lbs of daily chlorine generation capacity
5. Klorigen designated “Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology” (QATT) by the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security in 2010 (renewed in 2015)
Environmental Impact
1. Klorigen systems remove the potential hazards of chlorine gas exposure to the surrounding population and environment
2. Chlorate waste stream primarily comprised of salt and water and can typically be discharged to sewer
3. Klorigen systems achieve highest salt, water and power efficiencies among competing on-site generators
4. Food-grade salt feed stock and ion exchange brine treatment process drastically reduces calcium, magnesium, bromine and other impurities entering treated water
5. Elimination of frequent chlorine/sodium hypochlorite deliveries result in reduced truck traffic to site
Features and benefits:
1. Increase operator safety by eliminating hazardous chemical storage and handling
2. Improve public safety by eliminating chlorine transportation through populated areas
3. Reduce plant operating costs by producing disinfectants below market prices
4. Hydrogen is diluted and safety vented to atmosphere as it is produced
5. Single-pass brine feed system using food-grade salt for maximum purity, efficiency and minimum maintenance
6. Touch screen PLC control system compatible with SCADA systems for remote monitoring and control
7. Eliminates hazardous material reporting (RMP) requirements
