IEC 60238 Clause 16.2 Figure 6 Torque Test Apparatus With Lamp Holder Gauge E14/E27/E40
This torque test apparatus is designed to comply with Clause 16.2 and 16.4 Figure 6 of IEC 60238:2016+A1:2017+A2:2020 standards for testing lamp holder durability and mechanical strength.
Test Procedures and Operation
Lamp Holder Gauge Replacement
Select the appropriate lamp holder gauge according to lamp base specifications. Loosen the lamp holder fixing screws, remove the existing gauge, and install the gauge to be tested.
Sample Clamping
Secure the lamp base onto the lamp base clamp. Loosen the clamp's fixing screws and adjust vertically to align the lamp holder gauge with the center of the lamp base. Tighten screws to secure the clamp once positioned correctly.
Test Execution
Wind the wire rope around the torque disc. For clockwise lamp holder gauge screwing, wind clockwise; for counterclockwise, wind counterclockwise. Apply the specified torque by hanging appropriate weights for 1 minute duration.
Standard Torque Values:
- 0.3 Nm for E5 lamp holders
- 0.3 Nm for E10 lamp holders
- 0.5 Nm for E14 candle lamp holders with threaded entry fixing
- 1.2 Nm for E14 candle lamp holders with outer shell clamping
- 1.2 Nm for other E14 lamp holders
- 2 Nm for E27 lamp holders
- 4 Nm for E40 lamp holders

The test is performed twice: first with the specimen clamped at the outer shell and secondly with the specimen fixed by the threaded entry, dome or backplate, according to the lamp holder type. After testing, the specimen must not show any changes that impair its normal functionality.

- After use, apply protective oil to the gauge to prevent rust
- Remove all weights after completing tests
