Box Steel Column / Welded Structural Steel Fabricators
Box Type Metal Process for structural steel fabrication with superior strength and durability.
Product Overview
Welded steel box beams and columns are widely used in steel structure projects. Unlike H-shaped steel columns with only one strong axis, box columns provide superior strength in both X and Y directions, with stiffening plates at nodes creating strong node domains for better force distribution.
Fabrication Method
Box-shaped columns are welded from four steel plates using a process similar to welded H-shaped steel:
- Precision cutting with CNC flame cutting machines
- Carbon arc gouging for K-shaped groove cutting
- Straightening correction after blanking
- Assembly using specialized jigs and fixtures
- Submerged arc welding for main body
- Manual welding for stiffening plates
- Electroslag pressure welding for separators
- Final straightening and end milling
