Measurement Principle
Samples and reference materials are placed in separate crucibles within the furnace and subjected to programmed heating. When sample and reference heat capacities are identical and no thermal effects occur, the temperature difference remains near zero, producing a smooth baseline curve. Thermal effects in the sample create temperature differences, with upward peaks indicating exothermic reactions and downward peaks representing endothermic processes.
