• Piston rod/plunger surface: No burrs, scratches, rust, or dents. Minor scratches should be polished smooth with fine sandpaper.
• Sealing groove: Clean away iron filings, old seal ring residue, and oil stains. Chamfer the groove edges to remove sharp edges (sharp edges will cut the cloth-reinforced seal).
• Model Verification: Confirm specifications 40*50, model PVP-040K, complete V-Packing combination seal set. The fabric-reinforced parts are complete, with no cracks, fabric peeling, or hardened damage.

• The piston rod and sealing grooves are thoroughly rinsed with cleaning oil and wiped dry with a cloth, ensuring no metal shavings remain.
• High-pressure grease is evenly applied to the inner and outer surfaces of the entire V-shaped fabric-reinforced seal, ensuring the inner side of the V-shaped opening is fully saturated.
• A thin layer of grease is applied to the inner wall of the groove to facilitate pressing and prevent dry friction from tearing the fabric layer.

The V-shaped seal opening faces the hydraulic medium side (inside the cylinder/towards the hydraulic oil).

The entire assembly sequence from the inside out (from the piston rod towards the cylinder groove):

• Hard plastic/PTFE retaining ring (anti-extrusion ring)
• First V-shaped fabric-reinforced oil seal (V-shaped opening facing hydraulic oil)
• Intermediate support spacer ring
• Second V-shaped fabric-reinforced oil seal (V-shaped openings facing the same direction, both towards the hydraulic pressure)
• Pressure ring (back support ring, conforming to the groove step)

Important: The V-shaped opening of all V-shaped fabric-reinforced seals... The V-shaped opening must face the side with pressurized oil; reverse installation will result in direct oil leakage and rapid wear.

• Gently insert the assembled seal onto the piston rod and slowly push it into the sealing groove.
• Use a plastic installation sleeve of the same size to cover the sealing end face. Do not directly strike the fabric-reinforced oil seal with a hammer (the fabric is prone to cracking and delamination).
• Evenly tap the sleeve with a rubber mallet to press the entire seal flat into the groove, without tilting, twisting, or flipping.
• After press-in, manually rotate the piston rod to check for jamming, seal lifting, and localized compression deformation.

• Slowly push the piston rod into the cylinder, maintaining concentricity throughout. Do not tilt or scrape the V-shaped fabric-reinforced lip.
• Tighten the end cap bolts evenly and diagonally to ensure consistent force and prevent seal failure due to one-sided compression.
• No-load pressure test: Introduce hydraulic oil at low pressure and observe for any oil leakage or dripping at the seal.
• Gradually increase the working pressure to the rated pressure, let it stand for 10 minutes, and re-inspect. No leakage indicates successful installation.

• Do not pry or press the V-shaped fabric with screwdrivers or metal tools. Damage to the fabric fiber layer will cause rapid leakage.
• Do not install directly if the groove has no chamfer or burrs. Sharp edges will cut the fabric rubber.
• V-shaped seals cannot be mixed or installed in reverse.
• Forced assembly without lubrication when the seal is dry will easily tear the lip.
• Multiple V-shaped fabric seals must be installed in the same direction; the V-mouths cannot be opposite each other.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and oil corrosion during storage. Hardened or delaminated fabric should be discarded and replaced.

• Minor Oil Leakage:Seal installed backwards, V-mouth facing incorrectly.
• Local Oil Drips:Burrs in the groove, tilted installation, damaged fabric lip.
• High-Pressure, Large Oil Leakage:Missing retaining ring to prevent extrusion, missing support ring.
• Short-Term Rapid Wear:No lubricant applied, scratches on the piston rod surface.
