Activated Carbon Fiber (ACF) is following the widely used powder activated carbon, granular activated carbon after
the third generation of new adsorption material, it is made of fiber as raw material, with large specific surface area,
moderate pore size, uniform distribution, fast adsorption rate, less impurities and other advantages; It is widely used in
water purification, air purification, aviation, military, nuclear industry, food and other industries.
The traditional activated carbon is a kind of porous carbon after activation treatment as powder or granular status. While
the ACF is fibrous, the fibers are fully covered with micropores. ACF adsorption capacity is 5~6 times higher in aqueous
solution and adsorption rate is 100~1000 times faster than the granular activated carbon.
ACF has the fiber diameter of 5~20μ m, the average specific surface area of 1000~1800m²/ g, the average pore size of
1.0~4.0nm and the micropores are evenly distributed on the fiber surface. Comparing with activated carbon, ACF
micropore pore size is more small, uniform and simple structure. ACF adsorption speed is faster and adsorption rate is
much higher for adsorption of small molecule material, as well, the touching area with the adsorbent is large and can be
uniform touching and adsorption, so that the adsorbent material can be fully and high efficiency used.
