AISI 12L14 is a Standard Resulfurized and Rephosphorized grade Carbon Steel. It is a free machining steel and is commonly called AISI 12L14 Lead Steel.. Lead has been added to the chemical composition to provide an improved level of machinability. Although machinability is excellent, the added lead content reduces the overall strength of tht steel.
