Hydrophobic rock wool board is a thermal insulation material that improves its water resistance on the basis of ordinary rock wool board through special processes, such as adding hydrophobic agents. It not only retains the core advantages of rock wool board, but also has significantly upgraded in terms of moisture resistance, durability and other aspects.

Hydrophobicity Performance

Hydrophobic rock wool board has excellent hydrophobic properties, with an extremely low water absorption rate, usually lower than 5%, and for some high-quality products, the number could be less than 3%. It can effectively prevent liquid water from penetrating. Even in rainy seasons and high humidity environments, it is not prone to structural deformation or performance degradation due to water absorption.

Other Advantages

Meanwhile, hydrophobic rock wool boards retain the basic properties of rock wool. Made from inorganic mineral fibers like basalt, they are non-combustible materials (with a combustion performance grade of A), producing no toxic fumes at high temperatures and effectively retarding the spread of fire. The numerous closed pores between the fibers result in a low thermal conductivity, ensuring stable thermal insulation performance and reducing heat transfer. Additionally, they are resistant to acid, alkali, and corrosion, not easily eroded by pollutants or chemical substances in the environment, thus having a long service life. Moreover, with tightly interwoven internal fibers combined with hydrophobic treatment, they can maintain shape stability in humid conditions and are not prone to loosening, cracking, or settlement.

Thanks to its excellent water resistance as well as the fire resistance and thermal insulation properties inherent to rock wool, hydrophobic rock wool boards are widely used in scenarios with high moisture resistance requirements. In the construction field, they are often applied in external wall insulation systems, capable of withstanding rain erosion and ensuring the thermal insulation effect of the wall. In roof insulation layers, they can prevent melted snow or rainwater from seeping in, maintaining the stability of insulation performance. For underground engineering such as the wall and roof insulation of subways and tunnels, their moisture-proof capability is relied on to cope with the humid underground environment.
