Heated decomposition. When heated to high temperatures, sodium acetate decomposes to form sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃) and methane (CH₄)

Principle of action: Sodium acetate can be used as a carbon source to promote the growth and metabolism of microorganisms. In the biological treatment process, sodium acetate provides organic carbon and enhances the activity of microorganisms.

Application scenario:

• Activated sludge process: used in activated sludge process to improve the efficiency of sewage treatment
• Biofilm method: Used in biofilm method to enhance the activity of biofilm
• Denitrification process: as a carbon source, promoting denitrifying bacteria to convert nitrates into nitrogen

Principle of action: Sodium acetate solution is weakly alkaline and can be used to regulate the pH value of sewage. By adjusting the pH value, it promotes the precipitation of heavy metal ions and the growth of microorganisms.

Application scenario:

• Comprehensive sewage treatment: Adjust the pH value of sewage to meet discharge standards
• Industrial wastewater treatment: Adjust the pH value of industrial wastewater to improve treatment efficiency

Principle of action: Sodium acetate can react with some heavy metal ions (such as lead, chromium, copper, zinc, etc.) to form insoluble precipitates. The resulting sediment can be separated by filtration or sedimentation tanks, thereby removing heavy metals from the sewage.

Application scenario:

• Electroplating wastewater treatment: remove lead, chromium, copper and other heavy metal ions in electroplating wastewater
• Metallurgical wastewater treatment: remove zinc, nickel and other heavy metal ions in metallurgical wastewater

Principle of action: Sodium acetate can be used as a flocculating agent to enhance the effect of flocculants (such as polyaluminum chloride, polyacrylamide). By improving the performance of flocculant, the removal efficiency of heavy metal ions was increased.
