Solubility: Water: easily soluble in water, aqueous solution is strongly alkaline (pH about 12); Organic solvent: insoluble in ethanol, and other organic solvents.

Hydrolysis reaction: Fully ionized in water to form phosphate ions and sodium ions

Complexation: Form an insoluble precipitate with metal ions (e.g. Ca² +, Mg² +) for softening hard water.

Thermal stability: It decomposes when heated to high temperatures, forming sodium phosphate and oxygen.

Acid base: The aqueous solution is strongly basic and can react with acid to form phosphate.
