The R&S®CMW500 Wideband Radio Communication Tester is a future-ready test platform designed to handle all major wireless communication technologies. In the fast-paced world of wireless communications, existing technologies are continuously being optimized and new standards are adopted. A tester designed for the future must therefore be able to handle tomorrow's requirements today.

Multi-Technology Support

Supports GSM with EDGE Evolution, WCDMA up to HSPA+, CDMA2000®, TD-SCDMA, LTE TDD/FDD and several non-cellular standards such as WLAN. Ideal for comprehensive mobile phone testing.

High Performance Specifications

Features large transmit and receive bandwidths, frequency range up to 6 GHz, exceptional measurement accuracy and support of a variety of applications, making it a safe long-term investment.

Production Optimization

Specifically designed for production applications with top priority placed on accuracy, repeatability and linearity to ensure high first pass yield and minimize faulty DUT classifications.

Key Features
R&S®Multi-Evaluation Measurement

Performs various measurements (spectrum emission mask, code domain power, error vector magnitude and more) in parallel on the same signal sample, yielding drastic reduction in measurement time compared to conventional sequential approaches.

R&S®Smart Alignment

Predefined frequency/power sequences can be stored in list format exactly as done in the mobile phone's chipset. After being started in sync, the mobile phone and tester follow the sequence without requiring further interaction, reducing calibration time during production down to 10% of original value.

Reliable Receiver Testing

Features single-ended BER and loop-based BER analysis for testing receiver quality in non-signaling mode. Also offers TD-SCDMA base station emulator to verify network entry and functional performance in signaling mode.

Dual-Channel Mode

Can be operated in either single-channel or dual-channel mode. In dual-channel mode, two mobile phones can be tested simultaneously yet fully independently, even while applying different standards.

Transmitter Measurements

Implementation based on 3GPP TS 25.102 and 3GPP TS 34.122 test specifications. Supported transmitter measurements include:

  • Power measurements
  • Spectrum measurements
  • Modulation accuracy measurements

Measurements can be performed in non-signaling mode with any desired TD-SCDMA uplink signal. The "combined signal path" scenario allows RF measurements with signaling provided by the TD-SCDMA base station emulator to analyze RF performance in real operation.

Production Test System Optimization

Unites three basic functions in one box: RF generator, RF analyzer and signaling (network emulation). Can be flexibly used in all stages of production - from calibration and verification to functional testing. Extreme scalability, test speed and measurement accuracy translate into minimum test costs. The compact tester approach with SCPI remote control concept minimizes effort involved in planning and upkeeping production test systems.
