Very narrow aisle pallet rack system, commonly abbreviated to the VNA pallet rack system, is a FIFO(first in, first out) high-density storage system with 100% selectivity, which is best suited for warehouses with high mix, high volume SKUs.

Specifically speaking, it is an adaptation of the conventional selective pallet rack system, but built comparatively taller to provide more storage space. As its name suggests, working aisles are narrowed up to 1.5 meters to save up to 40% space for storage, increasing the capacity of warehouse without expanding floor area.

With such narrow aisles, common counterbalance forklifts are not suitable to work in the VNA pallet rack system. It requires a specific material handling equipment called a trilateral turret truck whose mast is able to rotate independently towards either left or right as required so as to access pallets without turning its body.

• It can reach up to 17 meters high, so VNA racks must be installed on a concrete floor that is perfectly flat. In addition, it is a must to equip with physical steel guide rails or electromagnetic guide rails to assist forklift operators in narrow aisles.

• Trilateral turret truck is more expensive than a common counterbalance forklift and its requirements for the operator is also stricter since it will be used in narrower aisles.
