Reaction Mechanism

The process follows three reaction stages:

  • Decomposition: CH₃OH → CO + 2H₂
  • Water-gas shift: H₂O + CO → CO₂ + H₂
  • Overall: CH₃OH + H₂O → CO₂ + 3H₂
