Reaction Mechanism
The process follows three reaction stages:
- Decomposition: CH₃OH → CO + 2H₂
- Water-gas shift: H₂O + CO → CO₂ + H₂
- Overall: CH₃OH + H₂O → CO₂ + 3H₂
