Overview
Our Ammonia Cracking Hydrogen Generator is a highly efficient and cost-effective solution for on-site hydrogen production. It is widely used in glass floating lines, steel processing, heat treatment, and metallurgical industries, where a stable and protective gas atmosphere is essential.
Hydrogen plays a critical role in metal bright annealing and heat treatment processes. However, due to safety concerns and handling complexity, direct hydrogen use can be challenging. Our ammonia cracking system provides a safer and more economical alternative by producing forming gas (H₂ + N₂ mixture), delivering performance close to pure hydrogen in most industrial applications.
Working Principle
Liquid ammonia (NH₃) is supplied from cylinders or storage tanks and processed through the following stages:
1. Preheating & Vaporization
Ammonia is vaporized and preheated via a high-efficiency heat exchanger.
2. Cracking Process
The gas enters an electrically heated furnace equipped with special heating elements and a nickel catalyst.
At approximately 920°C, ammonia dissociates as follows:
2NH₃ → N₂ + 3H₂
3. Heat Recovery & Cooling
The cracked gas passes through a heat exchanger to recover energy and preheat incoming ammonia, minimizing energy consumption.
The result is a high-quality hydrogen-nitrogen mixture (forming gas) with a volume ratio of 3:1 (H₂:N₂).
