Through continuous hot-dip galvanizing at ~450°C, the Z275 coating (275 g/m² double‑sided, ~20µm per side) provides dual‑phase protection: a physical barrier and sacrificial zinc protection that even protects cut edges. Under ASTM B117 salt spray testing, Z275 typically resists white rust for 1,000+ hours and red rust for over 1,500 hours (vs. 500‑800 hours for Z120), with some products passing 3,000 hours. This yields 20‑25 years of maintenance‑free service, making Z275 the preferred choice for AASHTO M180‑compliant coastal guardrails.
