Core Mold Manufacturing Technologies
1. Demolding Optimization for Thin Rib Structures
The product features multiple thin layered barb ribs, which are prone to cracking, deformation or sticking during ejection due to small wall thickness and tight undercut structure.
- Optimize draft angle on every thin rib surface to reduce friction between plastic part and mold steel;
- Adopt gradual ejection action to avoid instant heavy pulling force on fragile thin ribs;
- Reinforce rib root wall thickness in mold design, eliminate stress concentration during demolding to prevent rib breakage.
2. Cavity-Side Ejector Pin Auxiliary Demolding Solution
Conventional ejector pins only installed on core side will lead to the clip sticking to cavity and damage thin barbs. Our mold solves this issue:
- Arrange multiple precision small ejector pins directly on the cavity surface, covering barb rib zone and buckle base area;
- Synchronous ejection from both cavity and core sides to release the plastic clip evenly;
- Avoid single-side pulling that causes twisted, cracked thin ribs after mold opening.
3. Separate Insert Design for Thin-Wall Plastic Sections
The ultra-thin barb rib area adopts independent mold insert structure for better production performance:
- Easier Machining & Maintenance: Thin rib inserts can be processed separately by wire EDM, higher precision for layered barb shapes; if inserts wear out after long mass production, only replace the insert instead of whole cavity, greatly cut maintenance cost.
- Superior Venting Performance: Small gaps between split inserts serve as natural vent slots, smoothly exhaust trapped air during plastic injection; effectively eliminate burn marks, short shot and bubble defects on thin plastic ribs.
- Convenient Polishing & Draft Tuning: Individual inserts allow fine adjustment of draft angle and surface polishing without altering the entire mold block.
