Description

Alumina Ceramic Lined Pipes & Valves: The Superior Industrial Abrasion & Corrosion Resistance Solution

Product Introduction

Alumina ceramic lined pipes and valves are high-performance critical components for industrial conveying systems. They are manufactured using advanced techniques to bond a high-purity, high-hardness engineering alumina ceramic (Al₂O₃) liner to a high-strength carbon or alloy steel outer shell. This composite structure perfectly combines the extreme wear and corrosion resistance of ceramics with the excellent mechanical strength and impact resistance of metal, designed specifically for the most demanding industrial environments.

Primary Applications

This product is widely used in industries that require efficient handling and control of highly abrasive and corrosive media, making it an ideal replacement for traditional metal, plastic, and standard ceramic components.

  • Power Industry: Fly ash, pulverized coal, and limestone slurry transportation in coal-fired power plants and FGD systems.

  • Mining & Metallurgy: Ore fines, tailings, slurry, and metal powder pipeline transportation.

  • Chemical Industry: Conveyance of corrosive chemicals, catalysts, and granular materials.

  • Cement Industry: Pneumatic conveying of raw meal, clinker, cement powder, and in kiln exhaust dust removal systems.

Key Advantages

  1. Exceptional Wear Resistance: The ceramic liner boasts a hardness of ≥ HRA85, offering wear resistance up to 266 times that of manganese steel, drastically extending service life.

  2. Excellent Corrosion Resistance: Alumina ceramic is an inert, inorganic material, resistant to acids, alkalis, and solvents, far outperforming stainless steel.

  3. Low Operational Resistance: The mirror-smooth inner surface reduces flow resistance and minimizes energy consumption.

  4. Robust Structure: The external steel pipe provides superior mechanical strength and impact resistance, preventing brittle fracture.

  5. High Cost-Effectiveness: Extremely long service life significantly reduces downtime and replacement frequency, lowering overall maintenance costs.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Ceramic Tube Production: High-purity alumina powder is formed by isostatic pressing and sintered at temperatures exceeding 1600°C.

  2. Steel Pipe Preparation: Carbon steel pipes are cut to size and grit-blasted for interior cleanliness and roughness.

  3. Lining Assembly: Ceramic tubes are precisely inserted into the steel pipe using Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) or adhesive bonding technology.

  4. Filling & Reinforcement: The gap between the ceramic and steel is filled with high-strength epoxy or inorganic adhesive to ensure a complete bond.

  5. End Finishing: Pipe ends are machined (turned) to expose the metal flange faces for easy connection.

  6. Quality Inspection: undergoes NDT, thickness checking, ball passing, and pressure testing to ensure quality.

Usage Instructions

  • Installation: Ensure proper alignment during installation to avoid stress concentration. Use soft slings for hoisting to prevent impact on the ends.

  • Operation: Avoid thermal shock and operate within the specified temperature and pressure limits.

  • Maintenance: Regularly inspect flange bolts for tightness and listen for abnormal noises inside the pipeline.

After-Sales Service

We offer an 18-month warranty. During this period, any product failure caused by material or manufacturing defects will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Lifetime technical consultation and maintenance support are also provided.

FAQ

  • Q: How much impact can it withstand?

    • A: The ceramic layer has high compressive strength but limited resistance to massive direct mechanical impact. The metal shell provides the primary impact protection, making it reliable under normal operating conditions.

  • Q: Can it be cut or welded on-site?

    • A: It is strictly forbidden to weld or cut the ceramic-lined section directly. Please contact us for professional modification to avoid damaging the liner.

  • Q: What is the advantage over solid ceramic pipes?

    • A: It overcomes the brittleness of solid ceramic, combining the toughness of metal with the wear resistance of ceramic, making it more suitable for complex industrial environments.
