What is Brass Inserts?

Brass inserts are functional parts prefabricated with brass, embedded in other material matrices to enhance local strength, wear resistance or conductivity and other properties.

Features of Brass:

1. Easy to Machine (Best with leaded types like C36000)

2. Resists Rust (In water/air; avoid acids/salt)

3. Strong & Tough (Good for fittings)

4. Self-Lubricating (Reduces friction)

Advantages of brass over stainless steel inserts:

1. Superior Machinability: Much easier and faster to machine (especially leaded brass like C36000), reducing manufacturing costs.

2. Better Self-Lubrication: Lead-containing brass offers inherent lubricity, reducing friction in bushings/bearings.

3. Lower Cost: Significantly less expensive material and machining costs.

4. Higher Thermal Conductivity: Dissipates heat more effectively.

5. Better Thermal Compatibility with Plastics: Closer CTE reduces stress in plastic parts during temperature changes.

Application

1. Plastic Valve Bodies:
   Reinforce threaded ports (inlet/outlet) & bolted connections (body/bonnet).
   Provide durable, reusable threads for pipes/fittings.

2. Stem/Bushing Applications:
   Serve as low-friction bearings/bushings for valve stems in non-corrosive media (water, oil, steam, air).
   Leverage self-lubrication to reduce operating torque.

3. Low/Medium Pressure & Temp:
   Ideal for HVAC, plumbing, general industrial valves (< critical P/T).
