The butterfly valve, also known as a flap valve, is a type of regulating valve with a simple structure. It refers to a valve where the closing member (valve disc or butterfly disc) is a circular disc that rotates around the valve shaft to achieve opening and closing, suitable for on-off control of media in low-pressure pipelines.Butterfly valves can be used to control the flow of various types of fluids, including air, water, steam, various corrosive media, slurry, oils, liquid metals, and radioactive media. They primarily function as cut-off and throttling devices in pipelines. The opening/closing member of a butterfly valve is a circular butterfly disc that rotates around its own axis within the valve body to achieve the purpose of opening/closing or regulating.

The butterfly valve features a simple structure, small size, light weight, low material consumption, compact installation dimensions, quick opening/closing with 90° reciprocating rotation, and low driving torque. It is used to cut off, connect, and regulate media in pipelines, offering excellent fluid control characteristics and tight sealing performance when closed.

Butterfly valves can transport slurry with minimal liquid accumulation at pipe openings. They achieve good sealing under low pressure and have superior regulating performance.

The valve stem adopts a through-rod structure, quenched and tempered to provide good comprehensive mechanical properties, corrosion resistance, and anti-galling performance. During opening/closing, the stem only rotates without lifting, preventing damage to the stem packing and ensuring reliable sealing. Fixed to the butterfly disc with taper pins, the extended end is designed to prevent ejection—avoiding stem protrusion in case of unexpected fracture at the stem-disc connection.
