Marine Petrolatum Tape is a heavy-duty, high-conformability anti-corrosion wrapping tape engineered for the long-life isolation, sealing, and waterproofing of atmospheric, buried, and submerged metal surfaces. It serves as the primary corrosion protection layer within the comprehensive PileCoat system utilized on jetty piles.
The compound is formulated to maintain its long-term plasticity and composition across an extensive thermal range, remaining completely non-hardening and non-cracking. This allows the anti-corrosive barrier to accommodate continuous substrate vibrations, structural shifts, and thermal movements without structural failure.
Material Composition & Component Design
The tape is manufactured through a multi-layered composite design to guarantee chemical and physical stability in aggressive marine environments:
Synthetic Fabric Carrier: A non-woven, stitch-bonded synthetic fabric structure that serves as the core matrix.
Petrolatum Compound: The carrier is fully saturated and coated on both sides with a thick, neutral petrolatum compound blended with inert fillers and active corrosion inhibitors.
Backing Film: Reinforced with a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) film layer to provide immediate external shielding during the wrapping process.
All physical, electrical, and chemical resistance parameters are verified through standardized international testing methodologies:
