Custom TV Box Electronic PCBA Smart PCBA Board Factory
♦ How to choose PCB board factory?
Here is a step-by-step checklist that buyers most often use when they have to shortlist a PCBA board factory.
1. Verify the “license to play” certificates first
ISO-9001 (quality)
ISO-13485 if the board will go into medical devices
IATF-16949 for automotive
IPC-A-610 class II or III as your product requires
RoHS/REACH certificates
2. Look one level deeper into their quality system
Ask for the last 12-month “First-Pass-Yield” (FPY) number; leading plants are ≥ 98 % on standard SMT lots .
Check DPMO (defects per million opportunities); ≤ 500 is considered good for consumer, ≤ 100 for automotive/medical.
Make sure they have in-line AOI, X-ray, ICT and functional test fixtures; ask to see the last week’s AOI false-call rate—if it is > 3 % their programme is still immature .
3. Match real capacity to your demand
Ask for the “loaded shift capacity” (how many SMD placements per day/week) and compare it to your forecast; a healthy ratio is that your volume ≤ 60 % of their name-plate capacity so you get slot flexibility .
For prototypes + NPI: confirm they can place 0201/01005, BGA pitch ≤ 0.4 mm, and have a nitrogen reflow line if you use lead-free paste.
For high-mix / low-volume: check that change-over time is < 30 min (they should have a quick-change feeder cart system).
For high-volume: ask if they run two-shift or three-shift, and whether they have an MES that gives you live WIP visibility
4. Audit traceability & data handling
Every factory today should give you a barcode that follows the panel; scan it on the shop-floor—within 30 s you should see the exact reel/LOT of every component used on that board.
