SMT Production Line Rotate PCB 180° PCB Flipper Machine PLC Control
A PCB (Printed Circuit Board) flipper machine is an industrial device used in the assembly process of printed circuit boards. It is designed to flip or rotate PCBs during production, typically after one side has been assembled with components and needs to be flipped to allow assembly of the other side. This ensures components are placed correctly on both sides of the PCB.
PCB flippers are essential in automated surface mount technology (SMT) and wave soldering processes, where speed and accuracy are critical for production efficiency.

Primary Functions
The primary function of a PCB flipper machine is to rotate the PCB 180° (or another angle as required) to facilitate assembly of components on the reverse side. This flipping action is crucial for:
- Allowing assembly of components on both sides of the board without manual intervention
- Reducing labor-intensive processes, increasing efficiency and productivity
- Ensuring boards are correctly oriented for the next stage of processing
Working Principle
The PCB flipper operates on mechanical manipulation and controlled motion principles:
- Loading: The PCB is loaded into the machine, often via conveyor system
- Flipping Mechanism: Using rollers, belts, or grippers, the machine picks up the PCB and rotates it through automatic mechanisms (pneumatic or motor-driven systems)
- Controlled Rotation: The PCB is flipped 180 degrees in a controlled manner, ensuring minimal mechanical stress and preventing damage to mounted components
- Unload/Transfer: After flipping, the PCB is transferred to the next assembly or inspection stage
