The Processor PCA performs the following functions:
•Overall system control.
•Advanced control of all modules and subsystems.
•Controls power on/off sequence.
•Stores user selected settings.
•Stores operating software including data used to generate display formats and graphics.
•All user interface functions including:
-Generates and controls tones and audio signals and detects front panel button presses.
-Generates and formats information for monitors and printers.
-Indication LEDs that control shock button backlight and external power.
•Stores information on data cards.
•Oversees the defibrillation functions of the Therapy PCA including:
-Initiates the capacitor charging sequence.
-Secondary monitoring of capacitor voltage.
-Initiates the shock delivery sequence.
-Controls therapy isolation and internal paddle relays.
•Controls the pacing functions of the Therapy PCA including:
-Initiates each pacing pulse.
-Monitors the passed pacing current.
-Controls activation of the pacing and pacing isolation relays.
•Controls the ECG front end with Processor PCA (Lead ECG) and Power Supply PCA (Paddle/Pad ECG).
•All ECG processing including filtering, heart rate detection and rhythm analysis.
•Sets various alarm limits (HR, SpO2 etc.) and generates warnings when these limits are exceeded.
•Interconnection points for ECG leads, ECG output lines and SpO2 PCA.
•ECG analog front end for 3-lead, 5-lead and 12-lead (10-wire) line ECGs. •SpO2 logic and patient isolation.
•Measures device temperature.
•Monitors overall system status and controls RFU indicators.

► Processor PCA Disassembly and Replacement
The Processor PCA contains the device’s operating software. All Processor PCAs are American English, part number 12NC - 453563478461; 5x5 - M3535-68101.
When you install a new Processor PCA you must also:
• Enter the device’s serial number and enable options using the Service Mode menus.
• Set the device’s language (if other than American English) using the appropriate Software Support tool. See Table 30 on page 214 for part numbers. Removing the Processor PCA involves disconnecting many cables and removing many screws.
Removal
1. Remove the SpO2 PCA.
2. Remove the measurement module cover.
3. Disconnect all cables.
4. Remove the screws.
5. Lift the processor PCA from the chassis.
a. Be sure to move the many cables out of the way so that the processor PCA can be removed.
b. Leave the watch battery (lithium) in place when sending the PCA for repair. This preserves the information for factory troubleshooting.
6. Remove the internal memory card. Press the black eject button and remove the card
Replacement
1. Insert the clock battery (lithium).
2. Install the replacement fan.
3. Replace the internal memory card.
a. Insert the internal memory card into the slot furthest from the fan. Take. Align the card so that the CE label is facing the PCA processor.
b. Push the card all the way into the slot.
4. Place the PCA processor in place.
Route the cables out of the way. Align the holes in the PCA processor with the screw spacers below. Make sure no cables or wires are trapped under the PCA.
5. Replace the screws.
a. Replace and tighten the seven T10 screws.
b. Replace and tighten the shoulder screws.
6. Replace the SpO2 PCA
7. Replace the measurement module panel
8. Connect the PCA processor
9. Close the device.
10. Replace the data card tray.
