NDT Hardness Blocks for Bench type Brinell Rockwell Vickers Hardness Tester
Brinell Hardness Block .
-
- Purpose: It is used for the annual indirect verification and calibration of Brinell hardness testers, as well as for the cyclic (daily) checks of hardness testers.
- Description: Usually made of aluminum for hardness values below 200 Brinell. The surface can be either shiny - polished or matte. The hardness block is rectangular, with dimensions of 150mm x 125mm x 16mm, and is available in Brinell scales ranging from 2.5/62.5 to 10/3000, with hardness values approximately 70, 100, 150, 170, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, 650 HB. It comes with a UKAS certificate in accordance with ISO 6506 - 3 and ASTM E10.

- Rockwell Hardness Block
- Purpose: Used to calibrate and verify the accuracy of Rockwell hardness testers. Different Rockwell hardness scales (such as HRA, HRB, HRC, etc.) require corresponding hardness blocks for calibration.
- Principle: The Rockwell hardness test uses different indenter s and loads to press into the surface of the material. By measuring the depth difference of the indentation under the action of the pre - load and the total load, the Rockwell hardness value is obtained. The hardness block provides a standard indentation depth reference for this measurement.
- Vickers Hardness Block
- Purpose: Used for the calibration and verification of Vickers hardness testers. It ensures that the Vickers hardness tester can accurately measure the hardness of materials.
- Principle: The Vickers hardness test uses a diamond indenter with a 136° angle between opposite faces to press into the sample. The hardness value is represented by the quotient of the load divided by the indentation area. The Vickers hardness block has a known hardness value, and by comparing the indentation size and load on the hardness block with the standard value, the accuracy of the hardness tester can be evaluated
