ZL60 is an air purifying device that protects the wearer from toxic carbon monoxide resulting from underground fires or explosions, uses oxidation catalyst to convert toxic carbon monoxide to respirable non-toxic carbon dioxide. It applies to the environment where the concentration of oxygen is not less than 18% and carbon monoxide (CO) not more than 1.5%, for the use of rescue teams in the event of an underground emergency.
It operates as an open-circuit device.
The internal chemicals include a mixture of desiccants and catalysts.
The desiccant is primarily activated carbon, while the catalyst comprises manganese dioxide and copper oxide.
Its primary function is to act as a filter, converting toxic carbon monoxide into non-toxic carbon dioxide. However, it does not generate oxygen.
The working principle is identical to MSA's W65 model.
