ASTM F136 Titanium Medical Rod
High-quality titanium medical rods available in diameters of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm, manufactured from Gr5ELI (Gr23) titanium alloy to ASTM F136 standards for medical applications.
Product Advantages
Titanium alloy is composed of titanium combined with other elements, featuring two crystal structures: α titanium (close-packed hexagonal below 882°C) and β titanium (body-centered cubic above 882°C). Alloying elements are categorized as:
- α-stable elements: Aluminum, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen - stabilize α phase and increase transition temperature
- β-stable elements: Molybdenum, niobium, vanadium (isomorphic) and chromium, manganese, copper, iron, silicon (eutectoid) - stabilize β phase and lower transition temperature
- Neutral elements: Zirconium and tin - minimal effect on phase transition temperature
Oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen are primary impurities. Oxygen and nitrogen provide strengthening but reduce plasticity, with content typically limited to 0.15-0.2% and 0.04-0.05% respectively. Hydrogen content is controlled below 0.015% to prevent embrittlement.
