Galvanized Square Tubes and Rectangular Tubes are hollow structural steel sections manufactured from high-quality carbon steel and protected with a zinc coating through hot-dip galvanizing or electro-galvanizing processes. The zinc layer provides excellent corrosion resistance, making these tubes ideal for outdoor and industrial applications.
Our galvanized steel tubing is available in a wide range of sizes, from 20*20 mm to 400*400 mm and beyond, with wall thicknesses ranging from 0.8 mm to 12 mm. These products are widely used in construction, steel structures, solar mounting systems, agricultural equipment, machinery manufacturing, transportation infrastructure, and industrial projects.
The durable galvanized coating significantly extends service life while reducing maintenance costs, making galvanized square and rectangular steel tubes a cost-effective solution for long-term structural applications.
Many engineers default to square or round hollow sections for structural projects without considering the specific load direction. In applications where bending occurs primarily along one axis – such as roof purlins, trailer frames, crane runways, or mezzanine floors – square tubes often provide unnecessary strength in the vertical direction while lacking depth in the bending plane. Round tubes, on the other hand, are inefficient for beam applications due to their lower section modulus. Additionally, ordinary non-galvanized rectangular tubes suffer from rapid corrosion in outdoor or humid environments, especially at weld joints and cut ends, leading to costly maintenance and potential structural failure.
Steel structures exposed to moisture, rain, chemicals, and changing weather conditions are vulnerable to rust and corrosion. Traditional black steel tubes may deteriorate quickly when used outdoors or in harsh environments, leading to:
Industries such as construction, solar energy, agriculture, and infrastructure require steel products with enhanced corrosion resistance and long-term durability.
Solution
Galvanized square and rectangular steel tubes solve these challenges by applying a protective zinc coating over the steel surface.
Benefits of Galvanized Coating:
The zinc layer acts as a sacrificial barrier that protects the steel substrate even when minor scratches or surface damage occur.

Galvanized square and rectangular tubes are extensively used across various industries:

Selecting the right galvanized tube depends on project requirements.
Q1: Are these galvanized square tubes suitable for outdoor use in coastal areas?
Yes. Hot-dip galvanized tubes provide excellent corrosion resistance even in salt-laden coastal environments. For maximum protection, we recommend a thicker zinc coating (≥70µm) and regular visual inspection.
Q2: Can I weld or cut the galvanized tube without damaging the coating?
Welding and cutting are possible, but they will remove the zinc coating in the heat-affected zone. After fabrication, we recommend applying cold galvanizing spray or zinc-rich paint to the welded or cut areas to restore corrosion protection.
Q3: What is the difference between hot-dip galvanized and electro-galvanized square tubes?
Hot-dip galvanizing applies a much thicker and more durable zinc coating (40-85µm) through a molten zinc bath, providing superior outdoor corrosion resistance. Electro-galvanizing applies a thin coating (5-15µm) and is intended for indoor or light-duty applications only. For structural and outdoor uses, always choose hot-dip galvanized.
Q4: Do you provide custom sizes or special material grades?
Yes. We accept OEM orders for non-standard sizes, wall thicknesses, lengths, and higher steel grades such as Q355B. Please contact our sales team with your drawing or requirements.
Q5: How long will the galvanized coating last?
In typical rural or urban environments, the coating life exceeds 20-30 years. In severe industrial or coastal environments, the expected life is 15-25 years, depending on the coating thickness and local conditions.
