Manufacturing Process
- Raw Material (Round billet - 310S grade)
- Piercing (Rotary piercing mill at high temp)
- Rolling / Extrusion (Hot finished or cold drawn)
- Solution Annealing (Heat treatment at 1040-1120°C)
- Pickling & Passivation (Descaling & oxide layer removal)
- NDT Testing (UT, ET, or Hydrostatic test)
- Inspection & Marking
Key Advantages
- High-Temp Oxidation Resistance: Forms a tight oxide layer, preventing scaling up to 1150°C
- Creep Strength: Maintains mechanical load under extreme heat
- Corrosion Resistance: Excellent against sulfur-bearing gases and molten salts
- Weldability: Similar to other austenitic grades (use 310S filler metal)
Applications
- Heat Treatment: Furnace parts, radiant tubes, retorts, thermowell sheaths
- Petrochemical: Cracking tubes, reformers, ammonia converters
- Power Generation: Superheater tubes, nuclear reactor components
- Environmental: Industrial incinerators, catalytic converters
- Others: Kilns, combustion chambers, food processing ovens
Maintenance & Storage
- Storage: Keep in a dry, ventilated area. Do not mix with carbon steel (risk of rust staining)
- Cleaning: Avoid chlorine-based cleaners (HCl). Use nitric acid (HNO₃) or citric acid solutions
- Operation: Avoid direct contact with carbon steel above 500°C (prevents carburization). Drain residual liquid during shutdowns to prevent pitting
