Product Overview

ASTM A240 201 cold rolled stainless steel sheet is an economical austenitic grade utilizing manganese and nitrogen as partial substitutes for nickel. This cost-effective formulation maintains the austenitic structure and non-magnetic properties of 300-series grades while offering higher yield strength in the annealed condition.

201 exhibits excellent work hardening capabilities, making it particularly suitable for structural components that benefit from cold working. The 2B finish provides a smooth, consistent matte surface that accepts further processing including deep drawing, bending, and welding. As a nickel-lean alternative, 201 offers price stability compared to nickel-dependent 304, making it the preferred choice for high-volume manufacturing where cost control is essential.
